Jess will also join Meadows and Byrne in sharing her passion for seasonal cooking and local Irish food producers through the various channels of social media.
For over two decades, Meadows and Byrne has been the leading lifestyle store in Ireland with 14 shops nationwide. Renowned for innovation, quality, and style, Meadows and Byrne offers an extended range of unique homewares, culinary tools and table top décor to industry professionals and high-style homemakers alike.
Kai Cafe + Restaurant, located on Sea Road in Galway, has established itself as the place to eat in Galway and the West of Ireland. This highly-acclaimed establishment has been awarded Best Restaurant in Ireland, Best Restaurant and Best Chef in Connaught. The philosophy at Kai Café and Restaurant is very simple; head chef Jessica sources fresh, organic produce from local suppliers to create daily menus bursting with flavour, texture and colour. Run by husband and wife team, Jessica and David Murphy, all menus change on a daily basis dependent on what is fresh and in stock from local suppliers.
“I am very excited to begin this journey with Meadows & Byrne. They were a very natural choice for me and Kai, as we use all their beautiful dishes, cutlery and table settings in-house for our food styling and photo shoots. Kai is all about supporting local, whether that be local to Galway or local to Ireland. Meadows and Byrne have been central to the Irish retailer sector for over 20 years and we love what they offer across all their stores,” explained Jess.
“At Meadows and Byrne, we appreciate and admire Jess Murphy’s fresh approach to cooking and entertaining. We agree that her unique presentation of seasonal dishes, filled with colour, texture and style, mirrors the lifestyle approach of our brand. We are very excited to collaborate with this talented chef to offer our customers an inside edge on the culinary world in Ireland,” said Jaye Lee for Meadows and Byrne

“Galway has a reputation for being at the forefront of Ireland’s organic food movement. Sample the culinary best of the west at lunch in restaurant-cafe Kai on Sea Road, on the western side of the river Corrib. The decor is recycled, with jam jars turned into light holders dangling above tables while the fresh, organic produce has rustic touches. It is a must for fish food lovers with dishes such as delicately cooked whiting fish fingers with tangy pesto-based tartare sauce; or the Connemara Smokehouse board with locally sourced smoked salmon and peppered mackerel accompanied by homemade brown bread. Carnivores won’t be disappointed, especially by beef and chickpea pies that have such crisp, perfectly formed crusts that you’ll feel guilty breaking them up with your fork.”

Tinar with Kai and 3fe
Coffee is obviously our raison d’être here at 3fe but over the last couple of years our chef Hillary O’Hagan has managed to gain quite a reputation with our food offering. We recently decided to kick things on a bit and are delighted to announce our upcoming colab dinner on the 28th May.
TINAR is an occasional event we’ll be holding at 3fe where we’ll get one of our favourite chefs to come in and collaborate with Hillary on a tasting menu. This month we’ve chosen Jess Murphy of Kai in Galway who has built a reputation as one of the best chefs in the country and won many awards along the way.
Jess Murphy, Kai Cafe + Restaurant.
This is ticketed event limited to 40 people and we’re selling tables of four and two**. Wine can be paid for separately on the night and we’re working on some really interesting pairings and pricings for those interested in trying a few different types.
Doors crack open at 7pm on Thursday 28th of May and we’re looking forward to a great night with some excellent food and drink. This event is sure to be extremely popular, so book early to avoid soul-crushing disappointment.
