The now almost famous Kai Cookbook club is set to return in 2015 with four incredibly gastronomic events taking place between January and April.

The Cookbook club is a place where the culinary team at Kai get a chance to showcase the cookbooks that inspire them, and the food at Kai.

For those of you who have been before each event will follow a familiar format, for the new cookbookers you’re in for a real treat.

Each night the team will prepare dishes inspired from one of the books using recipes that you can then replicate yourself at home, and hopefully impress your friends.

The evening will begin at 7pm with a welcome drink, and followed by a unique menu consisting of a selection of dishes each contained within the chosen book. Each cookbook club customer will also be given a copy of the recipes to help you identify the ingredients within each dish.

Events for 2015 are as follows:

Things are hotting up again this month for the Kai Cookbook Club. Last month we had a great night with Roberta’s cookbook intriguing and delighting a room full of curious diners. This month you can expect to be delighted once more, but with a totally different kind of fayre.

After last months flavorsome trip to NYC we’re stripping things back and staying very close to home. So close in fact that we are introducing you to a local cookbook written by local people(it’s all very Little Britain!) that we love.

‘The Chef and I’ is a homegrown cookbook from Sunday Times columnist Mona Wise and her husband Ron, the chef. The couple are great advocates of the local food scene, and last year took the opportunity to express their passion by compiling this book.

Ron is a seasoned chef, (pardon the pun), and was born in the States, while Mona is a pure bred Galwegian. This combination has naturally resulted in a fusion of cuisines, which cookbook clubbers will get to sample on the night.

On the night we’ll have Ron in the kitchen with Jess, while Mona will give a talk on what inspired her to write the book, and her passion for the food industry.

For a sneak peak of what the couple are planning pop over to Mona’s blog – bit.ly/1cR8bTf

Tickets are available in advance from the restaurant or by calling us on 091 526003.

Cost €35 pp

You all asked for it, so it’s back with a bang. This month we are restarting everybody’s favourite book club. Yet again Jess is combining two passions to entertain and teach those interested in food. There are book clubs, and supper clubs the world over – but no cookbook clubs, until now!

The club is about people learning, talking, and sharing their passion with others. “It will be great for people to share their love of cooking and cookbooks with like minded people. The club will be a place for individuals and groups of people to come and talk about food, ask questions, and find out how to be a better home chef” says Jess.

For each club we try to seat people together to make new friends, meet old ones, and share their common passion. Along with a set menu from the book we will have a special guest talk on the night.

The club nights sell out very fast so it’s advisable to book ASAP. This month Jess will cover Roberta’s cookbook. This innovative page turner is straight out of NYC and is packed with unreal recipes.

The book is a product of a Brooklyn destination that the New York Times called “one of the most extraordinary restaurants in the country, which began as a pizza place and quickly redefined the urban food landscape”. If that’s not reason enough to sign up, pick up the book yourself and find out more.

Tickets are available in advance from the restaurant at €35, this month’s event is on Tuesday 28th January at 7:30pm. These events fill up fast so get in quick.

If you fancy a sneak peak at next months book – look up Smoke and Pickles!
